🗓️ The week before

Confirm your appointmentCheck the date, time, and exact Pearson VUE address in your confirmation email.

Do a test-center dry runKnow the drive, parking, and traffic at your appointment time.

Taper, don't cramLight review and a couple of exam simulations. Sleep matters more than one more bank.

Check your ID nowYou need a valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID whose name matches your registration exactly.

🌙 The night before

Stop studying by eveningYour score is already set by now. Rest protects it.

Lay out your ID and confirmationBy the door, so morning-you can't forget them.

Set two alarmsPlan to arrive at least 30 minutes early.

SleepA rested brain reads long stems more accurately. This is the highest-yield thing you'll do all week.

🎒 What to bring

Your government-issued photo IDName must match your registration exactly. This is the one thing you cannot test without.

Comfortable layersTest rooms run cold. A sweater you can remove is ideal.

Water and a snack for the lockerFor your break — they stay in the locker, not the test room.

Leave behind: phones, smartwatches, notes, and study materials. Everything goes in a locker; the center provides an erasable note board — you bring nothing to the desk.

🏫 At the test center

Arrive 30+ minutes earlyArriving more than 30 minutes late can forfeit your appointment and fee.

Expect check-in securityID check, digital signature, photo, and a palm-vein scan. It's routine — don't let it rattle you.

Store everything in your lockerYou'll palm-scan in and out each time you leave the room.

Do the tutorialA short walkthrough shows how NGN items (drag-drop, drop-down, highlight) work before scoring starts.

🧠 During the exam

Read the whole stemNote key words: "first," "priority," "best," "except." They change the answer.

Commit and move onIt's adaptive — you can't return to a question. Pick your best answer and go.

Don't read into the lengthThe exam can stop anywhere from 85 to 150 items. Stopping early is not a bad sign — the algorithm just has enough data.

Take your breaksOptional breaks are offered; use at least one to reset. A clear head is worth it.

Expect hard questionsIf they feel tough, that's the test working at your level — not a signal you're failing.

✅ After the exam

Breathe — you're doneHow it "felt" is a notoriously poor predictor. Most people feel unsure.

Know where results come fromOfficial results come from your state board of nursing, typically within about six weeks. Quick-results options vary by state.
